Nutritom helps you understand what you eat. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. When in doubt, always talk to your doctor first.
1. No medical advice
The information, calculations, nutrition plans, recipes and tips in the app are general and meant as support. They are not a diagnosis, treatment or medical advice, and they do not replace a doctor, registered dietitian or other healthcare professional.
2. Not without your doctor
Do not use the app, or only after talking to your doctor, if:
- you are under 18;
- you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding;
- you have or have had an eating disorder, such as anorexia, bulimia or binge eating disorder;
- you have diabetes, or a heart, kidney, liver or thyroid condition;
- you take medication that affects your appetite, weight or blood sugar, such as insulin or GLP-1 medicines;
- you are underweight (a BMI below 18.5) or are losing weight without knowing why.
3. Estimates can be off
- Calorie estimates from photos and descriptions are made automatically with AI. They can be well off, for example because of portion size, preparation or hidden ingredients such as oil, butter or sauce.
- Your daily budget is calculated with a common formula (Mifflin-St Jeor) based on your age, sex, height and weight. Every body is different, so your actual needs may differ.
- The weight estimate for the coming days is a calculation based on what you enter, not a prediction and not a promise. Your weight also fluctuates with fluid, salt, hormones and sleep.
- Product information for a barcode comes from the open database Open Food Facts and may be incomplete or out of date.
- Recipes and tips are written with AI. Check the ingredients yourself, especially if you have allergies or intolerances.
4. About the coaches
Nutritom's coaches, who work for NutriTom BV, provide nutrition guidance. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, they are not doctors or registered dietitians. When a coach approves your plan, that does not mean the plan is medically suitable for your situation.
5. No promised results
We don't promise weight loss, muscle gain or any other result. What you achieve depends on many things: your body, your health, your sleep, stress, movement and how you apply the plan. Nutritom gives you overview and support, no more and no less.
6. Listen to your body
Stop a plan and contact a doctor if you feel dizzy, faint, exhausted or ill, or if food, calories or weighing yourself make you anxious or obsessive. In an emergency, call 112.
Struggling with food? Your GP is a good first point of contact. In Belgium, eetexpert.be offers information and help with eating problems (in Dutch). To talk to someone anonymously, call Tele-Onthaal on 106 (Dutch) or Télé-Accueil on 107 (French).
7. Liability
How we handle liability is set out in article 13 of the terms of use.
